ASIO 101 driver problem with Vista 64...? (Solved)

Postby Genie on Mon Feb 08, 2010 12:55 pm

I have attempted several times to install the ASIO 101 driver on my Vista home premium 64 bit Gateway laptop with no luck. I keep getting the error message 2738 saying installer encountered an error. What do I need to do to get the driver installed?

Ok, you will have to wait for the 64-bit ASIO version coming real soon.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post.

Thanks Silvio for the information. When you mention real soon, what time frame are we talking? Weeks, months? I need to make some decisions rather quickly.

Hi Silvio,
Any word on the 64 bit driver so I can use my new Windows 64 bit laptop? It has been one month since my original post and I still have to use my old XP laptop to get the Denon to work. Thanks.

I installed the ver 2.10 on my Vista 64 bit system and this time the computer accepted the driver install unlike version 1.01 where I got the 2738 install error. The Denon midi controller still does not work and I only get audio for decks one and two on Virtual DJ. Silvio, I'm still waiting to hear back when the true 64 bit ASIO driver will be released to solve my problem.

Did you disable or uninstall your Webcam driver?
These block MIDI devices from working.

I went into the system imaging drivers and disabled the webcam driver and restarted my system. I still have no control of my Virtual DJ. When I use my other computer with XP as soon as I start VDJ the link is established and the led controls light up. On the Vista 64 upon start up of VDJ nothing happens and all the controls are not lit up. I'm sure it requires the true 64 bit driver that was supposed to be realeased by now. I'm surprised that it is not already out with so many 64 bit systems now on the market.

I read your post and just want to tell my opinion,
I agree with you that you need a real asion driver for 64, since the market seems to go on that way. But i can tell you that vdj is not reliable at 100 %. The older version of vdj struggle to recognise the 3700 decks , specially when you are using two. The software always recognise only one player and you have to do all sort of manipulation to make it work correctly. I try two version of VDJ and finally i give up because it was too complicated. :?

Hi DJ End, and thanks for the reply. I am not using 3700s and I have the new VDJ Pro 6.01. The Denon HC4500 works great with my other computer with XP and VDJ Pro. The problem is that I want to use it with my new laptop which has Windows Home Premium Vista 64 bit and can't get the midi control to link.

What, if anything, is the old laptop doing wrong, that the new laptop would (or might) resolve?
It's a sure sign that Vinyl is on the way out when fewer and fewer people are able to spell "vinyl" anymore.

While the HC4500 is ON and connected to your 64-bit OS, go into your Device Manager > Sound Card & Game Controllers > find the HC4500 and delete the driver. Turn the HC off then back so it can reinstall its drivers. Then try again and report back.

The ASIO driver has nothing to do with your MIDI connection.

Hi Silvio,
I went into my Vista 64 device drivers under sound and game controllers, located the Denon 4500 and removed it from the list. I then turned off the Denon and then back on and it re-installed the drivers and message said device installed and is ready for use. Display on Denon read "Initialize completed" but when I started VDJ the display went blank with only PC in red lit up and again no control of Denon and no song title listed in display screen and no buttons lit up. Hope you can figure out what is wrong.

Hi Gary, the XP system is a desktop and the Vista is my laptop that I want to use as mobile along with CD players.

Hi Silvio,
My problem with the Vista 64 controlling my Denon HC4500 has been solved. After installing the ASIO 210 driver on my Vista laptop, my friend suggested that I uninstall VDJ and do a re-install. I tried this and it worked, now all the midi controls are working like my XP computer. Thanks for your assistance.
