In general, USB is more reliable than CD’s.

As for Serato, yes.
Copy the wav file onto a 1gb thumb drive, select USB and the player will make a DB.

You didn't answer any of my questions in 3 posts???? Please answer them in order to help you.

1. What firmware version is installed in your players now?

2. What platter mode are you in during play, scratch or bend mode?

3. Did you or can you try all night in Bend mode? (as a test)

well I have v. 1200 and i thought of updating it to 1300 but i've seen people having the same kind of problem with that version anyways. I play the whole night on scratch mode, I'm adicted to scratching and finding cues is easier with the scratch mode. I'll try next weeked with the usb drive and inform you if this problem keeps going.

Hi there

Just bought my second DN-S1200, and im very happy, but i still have some problems.

First of all I wanted to ask if youre still working on the problem with the high pass filter (Posted about it before, but heres a reminder: Once you select the HPF, and its still at 0%, you can definately hear some of the lower frequencies being eliminated. You can easily check it out by quickly swapping between the band pass filter and the high pass filter)

Secondly, i have a problem with the pitch fader. It seems to be a little too sensitive, sometimes the pitch changes without me even touching. Example: Lets say i have to adjust one track on one player to +1.44. So i do that and keep that track playing beatmatched with the other one for a while. 50% of the time, the pitch changes to something like +1.42, +1.40 or +1.38 a short time after ive adjusted the pitch. Its really annoying. It only seems to happen when i have adjusted the pitch, so when it changes to a lower or higher value, it keeps this value for as long as i want.

Is that a general problem of the device, or is that just my 2 devices going crazy? Its definately the same problem on both devices.

Yes, this is our spec. (not a problem)
We do this to avoid digital noise found at these lower freq.

Denon
surely this sounds like something to do with the digital anti-shock these players have, needs to be sorted for all of us. As for myself, I have never used my players in a very loud booth or too near loudspeakers, so haven't experienced this yet.

I wouldn't say that is the case just yet.
The internal CD drive IS shock mounted.

Latest one (1300).

But now that you ask... i couldnt swear i had that problem before 1300, although i think its a mechanical problem.

As mentioned earlier, I have never set up these players too near the pa or have a dj booth that is too loud, so can't really compare as a test. But maybe, for DJ NeGro, his dj booth was just so very loud and at low frequencies, that it may have caused or at least contributed to this problem with his players.

Denon,
would it be possible to run a test on this as a process of elimination, as very loud dj booth's and/or PA systems are something we can't get away from.
Thanks

tote, DJ NeGrO will try with a thumb drive next.
He is using them as Serato controllers.
Based on his results will determine next steps.

Player stopped playing while in middle of Song at a Gig

Postby DJ E on Mon Oct 20, 2008 6:41 am

I took my Brand new Denon 1200's on the road with me this weekend to a gig in another state I have not used them in a gig yet only in my house. I have the latest firmware update on my players both v1300. My show was going great until a brand new cd burned using verbatim lightscribe cd'rs stoped playing in the middle of a song. There was no sound made after the song stopped it just stopped. This was very bad in the middle of a show. The song that was playing was an MP3 that has had no problem on my computer it plays the whole way through does not stop. I'm wondering if it could be a issue with my burner or is it the players themselves. Im not sure what to do, knowing i have shows coming up quick and do not want a similar mis hap to happen.

Or, it could have been a problem with that song. You can try and burn a new audio cd with it.... but imo, you are better off putting your music on a hd or thumb drive and play off of that (it's much easier and way more reliable than cd's). For help with MP3's, please read the "stickies" in the 2500 forum section for MP3 format compatibilities and suggestions.

Also you mentioned...

The song that was playing was an MP3 that has had no problem on my computer it plays the whole way through does not stop.

The 1200 does not play mp3 files that are on a CDR... only regular wave files. If you want to play mp3's, they have to be on a hard drive or a thumb drive.

Btw, do you happen to have that file available so we can dl it and test it? Upload it to a server and PM the link to DENON (aka, Silvio on this forum).

Hey guys I have great news. I had an excellent weekend. I tried my 1200 with a usb drive and I had the system louder than ever, vibration all over and mixing the whole night with no drops or music stoping. I didn't even get that anoying sound that it does with cds before stopping. Great using the usb drive now i feel that i can relie on my denoms. Later this week I'll upload a mix recorded yesterday sunday while working at club Hush Orlando, FL.

I have just played the same song from the same cd on the same player I used saturday night and nothing happened it worked flawless. Is it possible that my deck was overheating cause of my case or something of that nature. I cant seem to understand what could of caused my song to stop right in the middle of playing.....very oddd

I have noticed that when i use my thumb drive everything works flawless and I have only encountered problems with these deck while using cd's......I guess I have to go out and get another flash drive to put all my desired music on there so I have everything with me when I go out for a show. This makes me upset tho after shelling out all this money and being able to rely on the cd players of these decks it just boggles me.

Since upgrading to sys 1400, I've been having playback problems. I DJed a wedding this weekend, and was absolutely mortified as my music kept cutting in and out, randomly, for no reason --- ruined many mixes and killed the dancefloor several times. I've never had a problem like this up until this upgrade.

So here goes, to the best of my ability: the sound will cut out, but the file will keep playing. If I press cue to bring the track back to the beginning, it does not let me, it somehow sets a new cue point to where the file stopped outputting sound. So, the display still continues to tick on, but no sound comes out of the player. I know it is not the mixer because I have the sound outing direct to my PA via the 1200's RCA outs. This would happen very randomly and at different points in time during my set. Since then I've been playing around trying to recreate the problem. It is just so random though. As the music cuts out, I hear a short crackling sound. Other times, one channel (in stereo) will cut out, or get crackly and lower in volume. Sometimes the level of the track changes as well, as in gets loud out of no where. And, sometimes it is not with specific files, sometimes it is. It happened a few times today while I was messing around, and after restarting the player, I couldn't recreate the problem with the same song, other times I could. It is not the files themselves that are missing the sound. I double checked that on the computer, just in case.

This happens on both players since the upgrade. Mind you, these players NEVER have left the Odyssey case, and I handle the case carefully. I'm so worried over this... Any ideas? In the meantime, Silvio, can you please PM me the sys 1300 firmware? I want to see if that is indeed the problem and not something worse. Thank you for your continued work on the 1200s. :|

Laz, was this for CD or USB mode?
1 deck or both?
If USB, what do you have connected? (brand/make/model/size)

Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini

That external drive is USB powered. We have mentioned many times on the forum...

Do not rely on the deck's USB port to supply power for an external drive. Please use an external drive that has it's own power supply/plug.

=======

Both decks.

Since it happening on both players, this leads me to beleive it's the drive.

A. Try an external drive that does not rely on the deck's USB port for it's sole power source.

B. Try a thumb drive for now and see if the problem goes away.

Or, try hooking up you MOT4 (with the extra lead of the "Y" USB cable it came with) hooked up to a powered hub (to help supply extra power to the drive).

(please see the picture that I posted in this thread... viewtopic.php?f=41&t=10206&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=36 and yet us know if it worked for you)
