------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This thread was first set up to help new users/owners get their 1200 questions answered/solved. It has done a wonderful in doing that over the last years or so. But since the deck has been improved from when it was first release, and because the new Hybrid update will be arriving next month (and also because it's kinda time consuming to look through all the posts in this thread to find an answer to a question you may have).... I think it's about time this long standing thread be closed.
For newbies that have bought or will be guying a s1200.... please take the time to read all the posts contained in this thread before posting a question. More than likely it will find the answers to a question you may have about the deck. If not, please give the "1200 FAQ" Sticky thread a good reading. If after doing those two things you still can't find the answers you seek, please feel free to start a new thread.
With that said.... once the upcoming "Hybrid" update is released, we will be asking that any questions related directly to that 1200 update, be posted in that thread only.
Once again, if you have a question about the deck, and this thread and the 1200 FAQ thread hasn't given you the answers you need, please feel free to start a new thread.
Thanks for taking the time to read this thread in it's entirety, and we look forward to helping you in the future with your 1200 questions and concerns.

Closing thread.

Hi, i am new to this forum having just purchased a pair of 1200's.
Having flightcased the units and carried out a test in my lounge, some of the CD's will not plat at all. They are in top condition. Having found out initially from product support (who was very helpful) that i needed to update the players, i went and bought an 'Apacer' 1GB flash drive. Once loaded with the update, i tried installing it into the player which then displayed: 'no file found, switch off'.
Between us this conclusion was arrived at:
1) The flash drive is not performing (i had just shelled out £10 for this!)
2) The units may need to be sent back.
I have spoken to my supplier who will use a different flash drive to see if we can rule out the one i purchased. I have since read about compatibility problems between flash drives and the 1200's, which means it will be a gamble as to whether any of his work, and Saturday is fast approaching! Obviously i don't want to buy loads of different ones so my question is:
Which flash drive will definately work? At least i can buy one and hopefully sort this out.
Thanks in advance if there is anything you can add to put my mind at rest, as i am quite honestly really worried about this.

1. What firmware version is loaded in them now?
2. Please tell me more about these discs, what type of discs are they, store bought or CD-Rs ?
3. What does the display say after you insert these few discs, any msg?
4. If you made a CD-R copy of one of these troubled discs, does it play? (please try)
5. You need to get v1300 installed, then try again with your discs, we are always making improvements based on user feedback.

Its mentioned in other threads to stick with "name brands" for flash drives, such as "Sandisk", which is avail. worldwide.

"Sandisk"
Welcome to the forum and congrats.

djodz wrote:The Problems are ......
1- Lot of Cds that my old DN s1000 can read , The Denon 1200 show Disc error on her display, many times the time of read or loading one cd is bigger than a 1 minute (is that a joke?)....I use Original cds and Cd-r , all of my collection are in perfectly state , without scratchs ,dust , fingerprints and other dirty things, jeje. This is the first problem time to read and disc errors .
1. Can you please make a CD-R copy of one of these "disc error" discs and let me know if the copy works.
2. Long Read time has already been improved for next release (soon). This appears in v1300, but not in v1100.
2- During the player of 1 cd ....... the music stops ..... sometimes abruptally , sometimes with a effect like the break , and sometimes with irreconocible sounds.
1. For normal CD's or CD-Rs?
2. What is the status of the display when this occurs ? (time counter is frozen?)
In other order of things... I don't understand that the Dn S 1200 don't read Mp3 Cd's , I know that is not one of her features but I need the esplain.
Because you can now store all your mp3 files onto 1 hard drive in a library, instead of many discs. It’s faster to find music and more reliable than discs.
Welcome to the forum and thanks for you long support.
Please hang tight as we provide you with great service to resolve your issues. (by firmware)

ooodjaceooo, sorry for this trouble.
We are here to help you, but require some data from you to do so.
1. What kind of discs gave you disc error, store bought or CD-Rs ?
2. Can you please make a CD-R copy of one of these "disc error" discs and let me know if the copy works.
also i have a Western Digital 250 gb hd that i plugged in and it said no device, so im really frustrated with this device so far?...are these common problems and am i just doing something wrong on the disc side of things and also, with the HD?...do i have to put something on the HD from denon for it to recognize it?
Chances are your drive is formatted to NTFS, thats why it wont connect.
Please read this to correct it:

I bought a sandisk Cruzer Contour USB 2.0 Flash drive (4 GB) which succesfully updated the players (Confimed by the display which now reads 'version no.1300')
However, as before certain discs will not load up quickly. These are original copies in good condition, (Stanley Road, by Paul Weller & disc 2 of Stevie Wonder's Natural Wonder album.....disc 1 is fine by the way)
I left these discs in, and they each take 65 seconds to load, this is something i did not try before, so whether the update has done any good is beyond me.
More suggestions please as this is still not sorted.
Many thanks.

Hi all
been away so a bit behind on all wots been going on, one question though, looking at some posts and wondering why some of these players are still having problems reading and playing original cd's. I appreciate some copied media (ie cheap cd-r's) can be dodgy, but surely should be ok with all original cd's that are in good condition and play on everything else, especially after the two updates we've had highlighting the problem. Luckily for me, I tend to mostly use the flashdrives, though must say, from the few cd's I've used, mostly have been fine, a couple of lock ups on two old copied Phillips cdr's, which I dont use anymore, but thats all up till now. Normally I use fuji cdr's, and so far all ok, but I do hope the original cd issue gets sorted soon.

I had mentioned above that this long read time has been corrected already and will be found in the next update. (coming soon)
How about my other questions that I asked, can you please respond to each one.

Format it again using the S1200 in UTIL mode.
Make sure its backed up first as all will be erased.

This may be the wrong thread to post this...but I'm trying out the new PCDJ VJ 5.2 and I can only seem to get one player working. Am I missing something or are two players not supported yet? I CAN get sound through each, but only control one of them...the other just displays "PC" in the upper left hand corner. Left is MIDI 1 and right is MIDI 3

Hi guys. I have the same problem with my 1200, they stop playing but before they make a sound similar to the break sound and I have notice that it happens when there's a lot of vibration on the booth. Loud base signal cousin vibration cause my 1200 to have that kind of problems. First, i thought it was my serato scratch live or my laptop but now that i hear about the same problem with cds i realize it is the cd players. I didn't get pay last friday at a gig because of this embarazing situation and I'll keep losing $$ because of this. it is happening to me with a brand that I have always use and never gave me problems, the brand that I used to argue with other djs that was the best, with the brand that made me become a dj years a go and now that I have more experience as a dj and a built up name at my town I'm looking like the worst and most unproffesional dj on town. I beg the denon team to work on this problem as soon as possible. This is hurting. I have to play this weekend and I'm scared to do so because of this.

DJ NeGrO, sorry for this trouble.
We have been working on a new update for the last 10-days.
Please provide me with more information.
What firmware version is installed in your players now?
After the brake sound what do you do to get started again, power reset, eject the disc, or do they start again by themself?
Welcome to the forum.

Well. i turn it off and on but it just unfreeze the cd player. If the music is still loud it would start doing it againg. this is fustrating. So I have to lower the volume and turn down the base in order to get rid of it.

What firmware version is installed in your players now?
What platter mode are you in during play, scratch or bend mode?
Did you or can you try all night in Bend mode? (as a test)
