dn-s 1200 mp3 discs? (Solved)

Postby DJJACK on Sun Jul 25, 2010 2:21 pm

i'm having problems with my 1200's. when i play mp3's on my decks the music is constantly stopping. i've already talked to denon reps. they told me to put the same music on a jump drive first. the music plays normal off the jump drive. i'm only having problems when i play mp3 cds i've already updated my players. i need some help. this is driving me crazy. i love my players.

First things first... please fill in your US state via your profile page.

As for your issue... what program are you using to burn these discs?

Does this only happen with the ones you burned, or does it also happen with discs burned by others?

Does this happen to store bought cd's?

try burning an mp3 CD at the slowest possible burn speed that some dedicated burning software allows - eg: 4x or 8x etc.
It's a sure sign that Vinyl is on the way out when fewer and fewer people are able to spell "vinyl" anymore.

What program did you use to burn these discs (name and version number)?

What kind of discs are they (brand/speed rating)?

Sorry for all these questions, but we need to know any and all info that may help solve your problem.

So the discs made by your friends work fine?

Just to make sure.... go into the menu for each deck, and please list the software numbers.

That suggests to me that it has to be a problem with the way you are burning your discs.

If it was because of the deck, your friend's discs would probably have the same problem as the ones you burn, but you just mentioned that they work fine.

If you really want to use discs.... what I would do now is.... I would see what program and burner your friends are using and compare it to what you are using. Also compare the burner settings and firmware.

Btw, how old is your burner (also brand/model)...?

(imho, I wouldn't even bother burning discs anymore. Reason being.... a disc only has 700mb of space, and you'd be limited to around 60-120 tracks depending on the track's length and bitrate. You would be much better off just using a thumb drive or hard drive. Some reasons...way more space, easier to edit/add/delete tracks, and less likely to get damaged by handling it when compared to a disc. It's also a lot easier to carry around a couple of thumb drives in your pocket than a couple of cd(r's).)

I agree, one of the reasons of adding USB device playback is to make your experience and performance more reliable and to get away from all the problems that have plagued CD’s for the last 20-years.

A thumb drive has no moving parts and you can never damage the media by your hands.
