Keyboard, D-Link, troubleshoot (Solved)

Keyboard, D-Link, troubleshoot (Solved)

Postby totallybacan on Sun Jul 11, 2010 11:29 pm

Hi, I bought a pair of 3700's about a month ago, and I got tired of searching with the parameter knob. So I found a cheap $10 PS/2 keyboard. It works perfectly EXCEPT that I can't switch decks with it. I tried multiple keyboards, and they all work on both decks. I'm running FW 1330 on both of them. So I assume that it is the cable that is the issue? I went to walmart and bought the cheapest, shortest, CAT5 cable. It was 9 ft, which I heard could be the problem. I also tried another ethernet cable and it didn't work either. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I have about 2-3 gigs a week, and I don't have the room to carry two keyboards with me along with my laptop too.

Any suggestions to get everything working?

Thanks!

Did you push [shift+tab] to switch deck control?
Are you sure your cable is a Cross Over type? (keep it short, 3ft is good)

It must be a "crossover" type cable. A regular CAT5 won't work.

Yea, I tried SHIFT+Tab, but the KB symbol on the screen doesn't change. Thanks though about the crossover info, I'll give this a try and see if it works.

You can find this cable at Best Buy or Radio Shack.

So I decided to try out the D-link option yesterday and I had a problem. The cable is indeed a crossover one but I dont see any sign on either deck that there's a link connection, can you guys run me through on how to make this connection?

I know you mentioned it's a crossover, but just to make sure... when you look at the ends, what do they look like?

Ok, the one that I am trying to use has all the colours reversed on the other end but in the same order, they aren't mixed around, the first colour on one end is the last one on the other end.

Then it's not a crossover cable.

Here, I found a better diagram.

Just one more thing Double A, I noticed after a while my keyboard(qwerty -ps2(non-usb)) goes to sleep mode even though the "link sign" stays on so there's no way that the cross cable has got to do anything with it. I know there were some concerns raised about the matter and I tried to search on the forums to see if there was a solution to this, did you perhaps come to any resolution?

What is "after a while"? As this didn't happened to me, even though I sometimes take a 15-30 min break while levaing the set powered on. Upon my return still all works without any problems.

Do you have a weblink to this keyboard?

Sorry man you got me lost there, can you clarify?

One more thing I checked today,I switched both decks on with the keyboard connected but never used or touched it and it stayed on and never went to sleep mode.

Do you have a weblink to the keyboard (ie, a "www" internet link) so we can see what it looks like and what specs it has?

After turning it on, did you try to use it after that?

If yes, did you leave it alone to see if it would go to sleep again?

My bad  ,it's a Turbo-Spero keyboard so I guess you can google it cause I'm not really sure about their web page. The model number is KX-3801 and there is another number on it: KM-3801PUSA and I'm not sure what it's for.

Unfortunately I never used today after I switched it on.
